SMG Residence

The SMG Residence project contemplated the remodeling of an existing residence, located in San Juan, Puerto Rico. The objective was to modernize the exterior and interior of the property through subtle changes that required minimal structural impact to the house. Beyond refreshing the existing spaces, the design considered modifications to the swimming pool and the addition of new outdoor areas like a terrace, a covered deck, and an outdoor kitchen. On the second floor, apart also from the reconfiguration of the existing interior spaces, we introduced a generous walk-in closet adjacent to the main bedroom, which replaced the open balcony that previously overlooked the driveway.

The design intent was to revitalize the structure and enhance the residence's overall functionality. By making subtle changes to the interior distribution and establishing formal connections to the outdoors we were able to accommodate the owner’s needs and create a variety of moments and scenes that successfully transformed an old structure into a home.
